4.7 ELECTRIC SYSTEM

4.7.1 Controls

4.7.2 Starting the engine

Follow the instructions given in sub-section 4.1 above.
Ignition switch (see fig.9)
0 = OFF - no circuit live
1 = Circuit live
2 = Start engine. Release the key when the engine has started and the key will
click back to "1"
P = Parking lights (with light switch ON).
When the engine is running, the key should be left in "1" to recharge the battery
and turn on all the indicator lights.
When the engine is stopped, turn the key to "0" and remove it from the ignition.

4.7.3 Fuses and battery

Before changing a, eliminate the cause of the short circuit.
When changing fuses, always use the same kind of fuse rated at 8 Ampère.
Check the electrolyte level in the battery and top up as needed so that the
elements are always covered. Top up with distilled water, with the engine off and
far from naked flames. Check the clamps for tightness and grease them with
Vaseline. Keep the battery clean and, if it is not to be used for some time, store it
in a dry place.
