Troubleshooting

6.1

Matrix reset

An incorrect programming of the matrix may lead to functioning problems which can be hardly solved.
Sometimes, it can be useful to reset the basic configuration to proceed then to reset the different
parameters.
Warning : after the reset, the matrix is set in English and PAL video system. Date and hour are not
concerned by the reset operation.

Switching-on problems

• At the switching on, the matrix keeps the alarm condition present at the switching off : the SW164OSM
matrix stores in an internal buffer the configuration of different parameters (manual/automatic outputs,
activated alarms, alarm contacts to neglect, etc.), and restores them at the switching on. It is not
enough to switch the matrix off to reset an alarm condition, but it is necessary to proceed according to
the modes set in phase of configuration (reset from keyboard, time reset or external reset).
6.3

On screen images

• The matrix displays completely black screens with no identification texts : the switching cycles are set
to video inputs which are not present.
• Displaying an input, the image is completely black or completely white, but the identification text is
correctly displayed : the adjustment of the camera iris is not correct. Connect directly the camera to a
monitor in order to check the quality of the video signal
• Some outputs do not display the identification text: only the output number 1 is supplied with a
character generator ; it is necessary to add an optional ID07 board for each of the other outputs
• On screen, random characters are displayed at the switching on : it is a normal condition, which should
last for max a second. If this condition persists, some video inputs supply too weak a signal to allow the
text generation.
• The writings are correct, but are displayed too up, near the screen edge: the position of date and hour
can be changed, but the identification texts must be always displayed on the lower part of the monitor.
Should the position of the texts be too high (and the date/hour on the first line on high be slightly
deformed) the matrix is likely to be set for the NTSC video system. In the opposite case, proceed to
adjust the monitor, following the setting procedure described in the relevant instruction manual.
• The texts are correct but little visible : start the programming procedure of the matrix. If the menu text
is little legible since not contrasted, adjust the writing and background colour, by T1 and T2 trimmers
inside the matrix. Check if the JP3, JP4 and JP5 jumpers are in the correct position.
• Enter the programming
• From the main menu enter the menu 7.Other parameters
• Select the heading 9.Matrix reset
• Confirm the reset.
Warning : the key must be pressed with the matrix on, with consequent danger of contact with
powered parts ! Proceed according to the usual precautionary measures
• Switch the matrix off and disconnect it from the power supply
• Remove the cover, removing the four fastening screws placed in the upper part of the matrix
• Switch the matrix on again, paying attention not to touch powered parts
• Keep the P1 red key pressed for some seconds, till the two leds start flashing alternatively
• Release the key
• Wait for 5 seconds
• Switch the matrix off and close the cover.
