Installation of the flange
At the place of installation of the stern thruster attach the drill
pattern at the outside and mark the holes.
The drill pattern is on the centre
page.
IMPORTANT: The centerline of the drill pattern must be pre-
cisely horizontally and at least 250 mm below the waterline.
For checking purposes drill first a small hole at the location of
the centre point of the flange. On the inside checking the avail-
able space for flange and motor can now be carried out easily.
Make the holes, depend-
ent of the material of the
ship's hull by means of a
drill and a jigsaw or with
an oxy-acetylene cutter.
Make sure that the holes
are free of burrs.
Apply a sealant to the
mounting surface ( ☛ ➁ )
of
the
flange
(a
polyurethane sealant e.g.
Sikaflex 221) and position
the flange onto the hull.
Install the flange and
simultaneously the sup-
plied brackets with the
bolts, nuts and washers.
Install the 2 supplied zinc
anodes.
Installation set for stern thruster '160 kgf'
Install de thrust tunnel
onto the flange with the
supplied bolts en washers.
Provide
these
bolts,
M6x20, with a screwlock.
Drill the four 7 mm diame-
ter holes in the polyester
thrust tunnel for the fitting
brackets.
Secure the brackets to the
tunnel with the M6x16
bolts, the washers and the
self-locking nuts.
Installation of the 'bow thruster'
With the exception of the points mentioned hereafter the 'bow
thruster' must be installed in accordance with the relevant bow
thruster instruction.
The black plastic spacer must not
be installed.
Check
whether
the
distance
between the tips of the propeller
blades and the inside of the thrust
tunnel is exactly the same all along
the periphery.
Use the short hose pillar (supplied
with the stern thruster installation
set) instead of the long hose pillar
(supplied with the 'bow thruster').
Install the short hose pillar at the
upper side into the threaded hole
of the tail piece.
Apply a thread sealant. Preferably
PTFE-tape; make sure that a liquid
sealant, if used, doesn't enter the
tail piece itself.
ATTENTION
Make sure that the hose, from hose pillar to oil tank, isn't
squeezed during installation!
