 Press Bluetooth pairing button to turn the LCD display
®
on.
NOTE: The LCD display must be on for the engine to be
started with the start button.
 Press and hold the start button for 5 seconds to start the
engine. If the engine does not start, press and hold the
start button again.
 The generator can also be started by pulling the recoil
starter grip until the engine runs. This method can start
the engine with or without the battery pack installed.
NOTE: Do not allow the grip to snap back after starting;
return it gently to its original place.
The generator can also be started with the GENCONTROL
app. The app must be paired and within connection range
for the electric start function to work. If you can't pair and
the display is off, verify the EASY START dial is in the ON
position, then press and release the Bluetooth
and try to pair again.
Sleep mode:
 After 30 minutes of maximum inactivity, the product will
enter into sleep mode. In this state, the LED will turn off.
The Bluetooth connection will remain active in this mode
®
to allow remote wake up. All other functions are disabled
during this time.
GenControl Automatic shut-off:
 GenControl will automatically power off after 12 hours of
inactivity in Sleep Mode. The Bluetooth® connection is
also disabled at this time
To manually turn the product off:
 Turn the start dial to the OFF position.
 Always turn the start dial to the OFF position when
generator is not in use.

STOPPING THE ENGINE

See Figure 6.
 Remove any load from the generator.
 Place the EASY START dial in the OFF/STORAGE position.
To stop the engine in an emergency situation:
 Place the EASY START dial in the OFF/STORAGE position.
WARNING:
While operating and storing, keep at least 3 feet of
clearance on all sides of this product, including overhead.
Allow a minimum of 30 minutes of "cool down" time
before storage. Heat created by muffler and exhaust
gases could be hot enough to cause serious burns and/
or ignite combustible objects.
OPERATION
ADJUSTING THE CHOKE MANUALLY
See Figure 8.
If the generator does not start when the EASY START dial
is in the ON position or if the engine lacks power during
operation, you may need to manually adjust the choke by
following the instructions below.
If the engine will not start using the EASY START dial:
 Unplug all loads from the generator.
 Loosen the knob at the side of the engine cover. Remove
cover and set aside.
 Move the choke to the closed position.
 Reinstall cover.
If the engine lacks power during operation:

 Unplug all loads from the generator.
 Loosen the knob at the side of the engine cover. Remove
cover and set aside.

 From the app store on your iOS or Android Bluetooth
enabled device, locate and install the RYOBI
GENCONTROL
 Open the app and follow the directions as shown in the
GENCONTROL
NOTE: Make sure Bluetooth
 Make sure the EASY START DIAL is in the ON position.
Push and hold the Bluetooth pairing button below the
LCD panel on the generator until the LCD panel displays
"Pairing Mode."
 The LCD screen on the generator and the app on your
device will indicate a successful pairing.
NOTE: If the generator and app do not pair, make sure
that "Pairing Mode" is displayed during the pairing process
and that Bluetooth
 Press the menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
This will show you the available features that can be
controlled through the app.
