• to connect a stopfor™ fall-arrester to a point which
has not been covered by a periodic inspection over
the past 12 months by a technician having authorised
GB
re-use in writing.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester for any other
application than to protect people from falling.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester in contradiction with
the information specified in the section "15. Life cycle".
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester as a fall protection
system for more than 1 person.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester by a person whose
weight, equipment included, is greater than 150 kg.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester with a load of
between 100 kg and 150 kg (total weight of the
operator, equipment and tools) if any component in
the fall-arrest system has a lower maximum load.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if it has served to
stop a fall.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester as a means of
suspension or to hold a work position.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester in a highly corrosive
or explosive atmosphere.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester outside the
temperature range specified in this manual.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if the fall clearance is
not sufficient with respect to a falling person.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if any obstacle is
located along the fall path or on the swinging path
when used in a horizontal configuration.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if you are not in good
physical condition.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if you are pregnant.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if the safety function
of any of the associated items is affected by the safety
function of another item or may interfere with it.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester to secure a mate-
rial's load.
• to secure the rope of the stopfor™ fall-arrester to a
structural anchor point with a strength less than 10
kN, or which may be assumed as such.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester lanyard as a means
of slinging.
• to interfere with the alignment of the stopfor™ fall-
arrester with respect to the lanyard.
• to perform any repair or maintenance operations on
the stopfor™ fall-arrester without first having been
trained and qualified, in writing, by Tractel
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester if it is not complete, if
it has been dismantled beforehand or if components
have been replaced by any person not unauthorised
by Tractel

• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester horizontally if the
radius of the edge (R Min) does not comply with the
technical specifications table above, or if there is
presence of burrs.
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester to suspend the
operator or any other load,
• to place several stopfor™ fall-arresters on the same
anchor line,

• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester on an anchor line
where the angle with the vertical is more than 30°,
• to use the stopfor™ fall-arrester in a horizontal
position when there is more than 1.50 m from the
perpendicular to the edge (see figure 6).
• to wind up the rope with the stopfor™ fall-arrester,
thereby creating a slack strand,
• to use anchor lines, lanyards and components other
than those compatible with each stopfor™ fall-
arrester model, in accordance with that indicated in
this instructions manual,
• to use the anchor line for any other use than that
of the appropriate stopfor™ fall-arrester model,
including with another type of anti- fall device,
• to use a lanyard, which is longer than 0.3 m for the
stopfor™ B and P.
• to use an anchor line or a lanyard showing defects,
knots or visible signs of damage.
Install before use: see page 2.
Install the stopfor™ on the anchor line (C).
The stopfor P is fitted onto its rope, it cannot be removed.
Connect the stopfor™ to the anti-fall harness using the
lanyard (L). Fig 1 page 2.
After which, the following procedure must be adopted:
For the stopfor™ B
• Open the device by turning the mobile flange.
• Tilt the shaft by using the pin to free the anchor line's
passage.
• Insert the anchor line between the clamping axis and
the shaft.
• Close the mobile flange up to the clamping axis
buffer.
• Insert the M10 connector into the holes of BOTH the
fixed and mobile flanges to lock the device.
• The stopfor™ must be positioned on the anchor line
so that the arrow is pointing upwards and the device
locked.
The stopfor™ will automatically stop the operator
should they fall.

1. Anchorage to the structure (Fig. 1, page 2, A)
• The anchor line is fixed to the anchoring point with
a buckle (Fig. 1, page 2, C) and a connector (Fig.
1, page 2, B). The anchoring point must be able to
resist a minimum of 10 kN.
The anchoring point must always be situated
