3 Product Overview

3.1 Product Description

The Invacare Flotech range of cushions are made of a unique,
pressure reducing, ergonomically designed foam, which is
moulded to provide comfort, postural support and stability.
The foam has different shapes, densities and depending on the
cushion model can be also equipped with non-toxic silicone
fluid to optimise pressure distribution.
The standard outer cover is multi-stretch, water resistant,
breathable and has an anti-slip base.
The spacer cover promotes passive air flow to assist with
temperature management and has an anti-slip base.
An option to have a felt base to ensure maximum
contact area with the wheelchair is available. This is
not recommended for armchairs.

3.2 Intended Use

This cushion is intended to be used in an armchair or
wheelchair as part of an overall pressure injury prevention
program of care.
Intended Users
Flo-tech cushions can be used for users who require pelvic
stability and are at a low to very high risk (depending on model)
of developing pressure injuries.

is also suitable to address users with complex seating needs —
e.g. fixed or flexible postural asymmetries - allowing the
creation of a custom cushion.
Contra-indications
Usage within the maximum user weight limits that are set. This
assumes that the cushion selected is of appropriate width and
depth for the intended user and well fitted to the device that
the user is sitting on.
If stored in a cool area, the cushion must be brought up to
room temperature.
Ensure cushion is well fitted with the seat where it is going to
be placed and that the seat/wheelchair is adjusted to the user.
