1.2 INTENDED USE
®
The Matrx MX2 back is intended to provide precise orientation within a wheel-
chair for optimal postural support for active users. The carbon fiber back shell is
specially engineered to provide unmatched stability for peak performance, and
the foam is oversized to provide extra comfort and protection.

The Matrx MX2 back includes a movable foam lumbar pad that can be
installed/inserted behind the existing foam cushion to provide additional posi-
tioning capability. Refer to Section 3.3- Lumbar Support.

2.1 TRANSPORATION WARNINGS!
WARNING! Risk of death or severe injury when transporting a client
in a wheelchair fitted with a Matrx
• The Matrx MX2 Back is not designed for use with a headrest support and is
NOT APPROVED for Occupied Transport in a motor vehicle.
• Motion Concepts recommends that the client be transferred out of the wheelchair
and secured into a vehicle seat using the vehicle lap and diagonal seat belt.

Risk of serious injury or damage when transporting a wheelchair fitted

with a Matrx MX2 back in a motor vehicle.

• Matrx MX2 backs may only be transported in a vehicle when used in conjunction
with wheelchairs that comply with the performance requirements of RESNA WC19
or ISO 7176–19.
• For safe transportation of a wheelchair in a motor vehicle, refer to the user
manuals of the wheelchair manufacturer and wheelchair tie-down system.
IMPORTANT! Prior to transport, ensure that the Matrx MX2 Back is securely
fastened into the wheelchair in accordance with Motion Concepts Installation
Instructions.
IMPORTANT! If the wheelchair and Matrx back is transported unoccupied,
the wheelchair must be secured in a forward facing position, using approved
tie down straps, in accordance with the wheelchair and tie-down manufacturers
instructions. If the any equipment/components are dismantled for transportation,
ensure that all parts are secured safely within the vehicle.
