Shortening the bolt rods

The length of the upper bolt rod depends on the door height. The follower is
normally 1 m above the floor.
Attention!
Mixing up the bolt rods with one another will render them useless: The top
rod (hollow inside) must be cut to size, whereas the bottom rod (solid) is nor-
mally not. The two bolt rods are not interchangeable.
Cutting the wrong end of the bolt rod will render it useless: The bolt rods each
have a thread on the lock-side end of the rod. If the thread is cut off, the bolt rod
can no longer be mounted on the lock. Cut the bolt rods on the end without
thread.
1 Calculate the bolt rod lengths
(Fig. 4):
· with tubular frame
(Fig. 5 page 82)
a1 = x1 – 258.5 mm
a2 = x2 – 97 mm
· with solid leaf (Fig. 6 page 83)
a1 = x1 – 208.5 mm
a2 = x2 – 79 mm
 You have calculated the lengths
of the upper (a1) and lower (a2)
bolt rods.
