5.3 Descaling the system

If the appliance needs to be descaled, the symbol

You can continue to brew coffee or draw hot water and steam. We would, how-
ever, recommend that you run the descaling program as soon as possible.

The program can also be carried out without the message appearing.
Please note:
– The filter must always be removed from the water tank before starting the pro-
gram.
– Please comply exactly with the sequence described here during the process!
– You may not interrupt the descaling program!
– Never use vinegar or liquids based on vinegar to descale your coffee machine;
only use "Calc Clean" or a similar product.
– The progress of the cleaning program is indicated with the numbers of bars shown
in the display.
• To access the maintenance menu hold the aroma button (3) more than 3 seconds.

• If necessary turn the water dial (2) until the symbol
• Press the aroma button (3) to start the program.

• Remove and clean the drip tray (9b) and the grounds holder (9c) and replace
them both.

• Remove the water tank (11) and the filter if one should be inserted.
• Fill water and the appropriate quantity of descaler into the tank ONLY up to the
0.5 l mark (observe manufacturer's instructions) and replace the tank.

TIP:
Place a sufficiently large receptacle (approx. 0.5 l) under the jet (7).
• Turn the steam / hot water dial (6) to the right.
• The decalcifying solution flows in intervals through the jet (7) (ca.10 min.).

• Turn off the steam / hot water dial (6) by turning it to the left.
• The machine starts again and the solution runs through the internal outlet into the
drip tray (9). The process lasts for about 10 minutes until the symbol
