To switch from oil based to water based fluids, flush the system with
three 20mL samples of a filtered solvent (QED, Mineral Spirits, etc.).
Then flush the system with Reagent Grade IPA as above.
To flush the sampling system:
1. Make sure that the volume level detector is set at the correct sample
volume indicator on the sight tube.
2. Set the pressure/vacuum switch to the pressure mode.
3. Set the automatic/manual switch to automatic.
4. Turn on the instrument and the pump (if connected).
5. Place a bottle of clean (particle free) water, water mixed with a mild
detergent, or liquid as specified above on the stir assembly. Lock the
assembly to the sample chamber.
6. On the counter, push START.
The pump will start (if connected to a remote pump) and the sight
tube shows fluid. When the liquid drains from the sight tube the
instrument is ready for the next cycle.
Clean the instrument
Sample spills and overflow can result in potential electrical and fire
hazards. In the event of an overflow or spill, disconnect power and refer
to
How to clean spills
on page 16.
Clean the exterior of the instrument with a moist cloth and a mild soap
solution.
Clean the sight tube
Use an apparatus brush and a mild soap solution to clean the sight tube.
1. Turn off the instrument and disconnect the line power cord.
2. Push the release buttons on either side of the top assembly and
open the top of the instrument.
3. Remove the sight tube ball valve.
4. Gently put the apparatus brush in to the sight tube assembly. Gently
move the brush up and down five to ten times. Do not allow liquid to
exit the sight tube or to spill on the rear panel.
5. Assemble all instrument components.
6. Flush the sample system.
Replace the line filter

A
/
-inch or adjustable wrench is necessary to do this procedure.
16
Remove instrument power, disconnect the line power cord, secure all
pressure lines and flush the system before doing the procedure below.
Replace the line filter when the:
• filter is wet
• filter is contaminated with foreign material
• desiccant filter is replaced
1. Push the release buttons on the top of the instrument and open the
top.
9
2. Use the
/
-inch wrench to remove the fittings from each side of the
16
line filter. Record the direction of the flow arrow on the filter.
3. Remove the old filter and install the new filter and tighten the fittings
by hand. Install the new filter so the arrow points in the same
direction.
4. Use the wrench to tighten the fittings another ¼ turn. Do not over
tighten the fittings as this can cause permanent damage to the
fittings.
Replace the desiccant
9
A
/
-inch or adjustable wrench is necessary for this procedure.
16
Turn off the instrument, secure all pressure lines, and disconnect the
power cord before this procedure.
The desiccant removes moisture from the pressurized line gas.
Desiccant beads are normally blue. Install a new desiccant chamber
(390020) when the beads turn white or brown. Install a new line filter at
the same time.
1. Push the release buttons on the sides of the top assembly and open
the top of the instrument.
