c) Checking the rotor head mechanics
Before you commission the model for the first time, you
need to check all screw fittings and settings on the model.
All moving parts have to be easily movable but there should
not be a clearance in the bearing.
The holding screws of the main rotor blades (1) may only
be tightened to the degree that the rotor blades can
automatically align themselves exactly at an 180° angle
(see also "Checking the Rotor Blade Fastening").
The two paddles (2) of the auxiliary rotor must have the
same exact distance (A) to the paddle bridge (3). In
addition, the two paddles and the paddle bridge must be
aligned absolutely in parallel to each other.
After loosening the two holding screws (4) the paddle rod
can be moved to the side and rotated. The paddles
themselves are each then held by a separate attachment
screw (5). After loosening the screw the paddle can be
rotated into the proper position.
The two flyweights (6) serve to stabilise the paddle area
level. They must be pushed closely all the way to the
paddles and with securely screwed to the paddle rod with
the locking screw.
