Upper Threading for Thick Fabrics or When Using Heavier Threads
For a tighter upper thread, such as when
sewing thick fabrics or using heavier
threads, thread the machine as described
below.

The upper thread tension can be adjusted by sliding the thread guide
(right) to the left or right. Loosen the screw, and then slide the thread
guide (right) to the desired position. Once the thread guide is in the
desired position, tighten the screw to secure the guide.
General thread tension is adjusted with the thread tension dial. Refer
to page 18.
✽ Use the appropriate needle for the thread or topstitch needle, when
using heavier threads. Adjust stitch length and tension as needed.
