Safety instructions

Operating instructions are directed at
electricians suitably trained in
hazardous area with knowledge of
explosion protection
IEC/EN 60079-14.
The photo-cells are not suitable for zone 0
and zone 20, 21 and 22 hazardous areas.

The temperature class and type of protection
stated on the apparatus shall be observed.
Prior to being put into operation, the
photo-cell shall be checked in accordance
with the instructions as per section 6.
The national safety rules and regulations for
the prevention of accidents, as well as the
safety instructions included in these
operating instructions, are set in italics, and
shall be observed!

Conformity with standards

They have been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and
EN ISO/IEC 80079-34:2011.
The apparatus are conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity,
enclosed separately.

Field of application

The photo-cells are suitable for use in zone 1,
and 2 hazardous areas acc. to
IEC/EN 60079-10-1.
The photocell is to be installed in a housing,
performed by a protection to EN 60079-0
(e.g .: flameproof or increased safety), provided.

The enclosure materials employed, including the
exterior metal parts, are made of high-quality
materials which ensure a corrosion protection
and resistance to chemical substances
corresponding to the requirements in a "normal
industrial atmosphere":

In case of use in an extremely aggressive
atmosphere, you can obtain information
concerning the chemical resistance of the
materials used from your Cooper Crouse-Hinds
branch.

Application / Properties

The photo-cell recognises light fluctuation.
The light fluctuation is immediately transmitted
to the "load" via the switch circuit.
In darkness the voltage on the switch circuit is
held for 3-5 seconds (delay time) so that
nuisance switching by light fluctuation is
avoided.
The data according to sections 3 and 4 shall be
taken into account during use.
Applications other than those described are not
permissible without a written declaration of
consent from Messrs. COOPER Crouse-Hinds.
During operation the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions shall be
observed.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of the photo-cells with
regard to the basic requirements of these
instructions (see technical data) lies with the
operator.
