Troubleshooting
CAUSE
No gasoline
Faulty engine
Elevation (above 5000 ft)
Dried paint, seized pump rod
New pump, new pump packings and/or low
engine speed.
Piston packings worn or damaged.
Displacement pump outlet filter (if used) is dirty
or clogged
Suction tube to pump inlet is not tight
Worn prime valve
Loose wet-cup
Throat packings worn or damaged
Paint buildup on engine components
Oil level is low
Air in fluid pump or hose
Loose intake suction
Fluid supply is low or empty
Cold weather
Paint too thick
Bumpy turf
Worn tip
Wrong tip size
Inlet ball stuck
Pump not cycling
Worn prime valve
High speed on engine set too low
