4.3 Installing the Nozzle
1. Remove the base grate (Figure 5).
2. Remove the transportation safety device (cable
clip) from the blasting nozzle (Figure 6).
3. Check the extraction hose for proper seat
(Figure 7).
4.4 Adjusting the Operating
Pressure
1. Set the selector switch to the recycling sandblast-
ing position (Figure 8, Pos. A).
2. Adjust the blasting pressure to 1 - 6 bar
[14.5 - 87 psi] (Figure 9). The current pressure
setting is continuously displayed on the
manometer.
4.5 Adding Abrasive
1. Remove the base grate (Figure 5).
2. Add abrasive (Figure 10). Approx. 5 kg (+/- 2 kg).
3. Reinsert the base grate (Figure 5).
Use only clean, dry abrasive with the
appropriate grain size (refer to the ac-
cessories list). We recommend an abra-
sive with a grain size of 125 - 250 µm
[115 - 60 mesh].
Max. grain size: 500 µm [32 mesh].
With the use of abrasives > 250 micron (for
ex. 500 micron), a significantly higher level
of wear and tear must be expected
4.6 Starting the Unit
Illumination
1. Connect one end of the power cord to the unit
(Figure 11) and plug the other end into the wall
outlet (Figure 12).
2. Switch the lamp on (Figure 13).
If the membrane key is damaged or de-
fect, please disconnect the device and
send away for repair! If the membrane is
removed there is the risk of an electrical
shock!
4.7 Connection to the Dust
Extractor
Push the extraction hose onto the extractor connec-
tion (Figure 14, Pos. a). An extraction hose is not in-
cluded in the standard Vario basic delivery package.
When using extraction units with an „automatic start
function", ensure that the Vario basic mains cable
is plugged into the relevant socket on the extraction
unit. Observe the maximum connection load on the
plug socket.
5. Operation
5.1 Device Selection
The Vario basic is supplied without the fine blasting
tanks. It has the capacity to hold up to 4 fine blasting
tanks. As an alternative to a sandblasting tank, it is
also possible to connect a device which runs on com-
pressed air. This is determined by the selection dial
within the blasting chamber. (Figure 8):

Sandblasting continues as long as the foot switch is
depressed (Figure 15). A small amount of abrasive
continues to flow once the foot switch is released.
Please use the provided gloves when
sandblasting.
The cloth hand port cuffs do not need to be removed.
Do not operate the unit if the viewing pane
is open.
5.2 Positioning the Blasting
Nozzle
Nozzle distance and nozzle angle can be adjusted
separately (Figure 16).
5.2.1 a
djustinG thE
Three different nozzle inserts are available to provide
three different nozzle distances (Figure 16, Pos. a +
Figure 6).
5.2.2 a
djustinG thE
1. Loosen the upper and lower knurled nuts on the
retainer (Figure 16, Pos. b).
2. Adjust the nozzle to the desired angle.
3. Retighten the screw (Figure 16, Pos. b).
5.3 Adjusting the Extraction
Power
The suction performance of a weak extraction unit
can be increased by closing the boreholes on the
back side of the unit (Fig. 14, Pos. b) with the sup-
plied magnetic foil.
