1. Introduction
We are pleased with your decision to purchase the
Vario basic.
This unit sets new standards with regard to multifunc-
tionality, performance, and ergonomics.
Please read the following operating in-
structions carefully and observe all the in-
formation they contain in order to ensure
long and trouble-free service.
2. Application Area
The Vario basic recyclable blaster is used in dental
laboratories to remove investments and oxides from
cast parts (primarily model castings).
The unit can be fitted with up to 4 fine blasting tanks.
Thus the application area also includes the removal
of investments and oxides from crowns / bridges and
inlays as well as surface treatment by polishing.
The unit is supplied without the fine blasting tanks. It
has the capacity to hold up to 4 fine blasting tanks. As
an alternative to a sandblasting tank, it is also pos-
sible to connect a device which runs on compressed
air. This is determined by the selection dial within the
blasting chamber.
If micro sandblasting tanks are to be
installed from the outset, this should be
done prior to the unit being filled with
abrasive.
2.1 Ambient Conditions
(in accordance with DIN EN 61010-1)
The Vario basic may only be operated:
Indoors;
Up to an altitude of 2,000 m [6,500 ft] above sea
level;
At an ambient temperature range of 5 - 40 ºC
[41 - 104 ºF];
At a maximum relative humidity of 80 % at 31 ºC
[87.8 ºF], dropping linearly to 50 % relative humidi-
ty at 40 ºC [104 ºF];
With a mains power supply whose voltage fluctua-
tions do not exceed 10% of the rated value;
Under contamination level 2 conditions;
Under over-voltage category II conditions.
*) Between 5 - 30 ºC [41 - 86 ºF] the unit can be operated at a rela-
tive humidity of up to 80 %. At temperatures between 31 - 40 ºC
[87.8 - 104 ºF] the humidity must decrease proportionally in
order to ensure proper operability (e.g., at 35 ºC [95ºF] = 65 %
relative humidity, at 40 ºC [104 ºF] = 50 % relative humidity). The
unit may not be operated at temperatures above 40 ºC [104 ºF].

3.2 Hazard Information
• The unit should only be operated using a mains
cable with a country-specific plug system. Any
modification required should only be carried
out by an electrician.
• Prior to commissioning, compare the informa-
tion on the nameplate with the specifications of
the local mains power network and the connec-
tion values for compressed air.
• In order to avoid health hazards, never operate
the sandblasting unit without adequate dust
extraction and proper personal protection.
In order to protect the health of persons work-
ing in a dental laboratory, the law requires
that specialised dust extractors must be used.
National regulations state the MAK value -
maximum concentration of suspended parti-
cles in the air. Find out about the legal national
threshold value and the type of dust generated
in your laboratory.
• Improper operation can result in the risk of eye
and skin injuries.
