Cutting blade cleaning
• Remove any organic matter or debris from the cutting blade with a wire brush.
• Use solvent cleaner to spot clean any sap from the blades.
• Spray the blades with a moisture dispersant lubricating oil.
Guide bar checking (Fig. 14)
• Clean the dust in the bar groove with a damp cloth.
• Check the guide bar rail for wear. Hold a ruler (stright edge) against the side of the guide
bar and cutter side plates. If a gap is observed between them, the rail is normal. If not,
replace the guide bar.
Sprocket checking (Fig. 15)
• Replace the sprocket when the teeth are worn over 0.3 mm.
Saw chain sharpening
• Place the file (size 4,0 mm) on the cutter and push straight forward. (Fig. 16a)
• After each cutter is filed, check the depth gauge and file it to the proper level. (Fig. 16b
and 16c)
• Make sure every cutter has the same length and edge angles (Fig. 16d, 16e and 16f)
