Changing the carbon brushes

BIAX electronic scrapers have carbon brushes which
switch off automatically. If the brushes become worn
(after around 250 hours of operation) the power
supply will be interrupted when they are switched off.
The motor will stop.
The brushes may only be changed in pairs.
To change the carbon brushes, pull the motor cap
back after releasing the screw. To change the
brush, release the screw from the contact plate.
The carbon brushes are pressed against the
commutator by the end of a spring. Lift the spring
slightly and pull the brush out of the holder by its
braid.
When inserting the brushes, make sure that they
do not stick in the brush holder. If necessary,
clean the guide with a needle-point file.
Insert the brushes in such a way that the pressure
spring rests in the slot on the front of the brush.
Secure the brush with a screw on the contact
plate.
Push the motor cap up and tighten with the screw.
To allow the carbon brushes to bed in, run the
machine at idling speed for about 5 minutes.

Maintenance unit

For perfect operation of the BIAX pneumatic scraper,
the maintenance unit should be checked at regular
intervals. Remove any condensation water and fill up
if necessary with BIAX special oil.
This will prevent damage to the ball bearings, motor
components etc. caused by dirt or rust particles.
For this purpose
remove the condensation water and
check the operating pressure (max. 6 bars) at
regular intervals.
Checking the idling speed
The scraper idling speed must be checked at intervals
of 20 operating hours. Use a revolution counter for
this purpose.
DL-40: At an operating pressure of 6 bars, the
nominal speed without the grinding tool must not be
exceeded.

Other maintenance work
Before starting work always inspect
the tool (scraper blade) visually.
Please
exchange
immediately to prevent any risk of
injury!
Check the scraper retaining shoe and
adjusting strips and threads regularly
for wear and tolerance values!
Applicable to Types BS-40M; BL-40M; DL-40; BL-
10M.
Before starting work each day and for lengthy periods
of work, apply a few drops of oil between the adjusting
strips and the scraper retaining shoe. After around
200 hours operation, clearance between the scraper
retaining shoe and the adjusting strips must be
checked with a feeler gauge 0.02 mm and readjusted
if necessary.
Clearance too large:
Turn the
threaded pin clockwise until the
clearance is 0.02 mm.
Clearance too small:
Turn the threaded pin anti-clockwise until the 0.02
mm feeler gauge can be inserted between the
scraper retaining shoe and the adjusting strips.
