9 Troubleshooting

Problem
The machine does not start.
The cylinder on the
upper tool does not move
downwards.
Within the operating mode
Conductive Materials and
operating type Operation no
force is applied on contact
between the tool and the
workpiece.
Within the operating mode
Conductive Materials and
operating type Operation no
force is applied when the
tool touches the workpiece
and the automatic feed
system provides a
self-clinching fastener.
Within the operating mode

pressure is built up but the
pressing-in process does
not start after pressure has
been reached.

shaking is noticed after the
pressing-in process.
Possible cause
Switch Emergency Stop is
activated.
Main Switch is set to OFF.
Power plug disconnected.
Electronics are defective.
Upper tool holder is jammed.
Electronics are defective.
Upper tool or upper tool holder
not fixed to the frame.
Upper tool holder does not touch
the cylinder.
Tool is dirty.
Material is not electrically
conductive.
Workpiece is dirty.
Electronics are defective.
Selection Switch Operation/
Setup is set to Setup.
Electronics are defective.
Electronics are defective.
Remedy
Deactivate Switch Emergency Stop,
see chapter 4.4.
Set Main Switch to ON.
Check power plug.
Contact the HONSEL service.
Remove and clean upper tool holder.
Lubricate the cylinder with lithium
grease.
Contact the HONSEL service.
Check tight fit of lower tool holder
and lower tool.
Remove and clean upper tool holder.
Clean the tool with fine-grained
sandpaper.
Make sure the correct operating
mode is set.
Clean the workpiece.
Contact the HONSEL service
Set the Selection Switch to
Operation.
Contact the HONSEL service.
