2 .7 SAFETY SYSTEM

The safety system protects the operator from injury.
The safety system works in both operating modes.
Operating mode conductive materials:
If a non-conductive material is between the upper
and lower tool holder, the downward movement of
the upper tool holder is stopped. The upper tool
holder returns to the starting position.
Operating mode non-conductive materials:
The downward movement of the upper tool holder
is stopped when there is any object between the
upper and lower tool holder. To start the pressing-in
process, the down footswitch must be pressed a
second time.

3 Setup

WARNING
Carrying metal objects on the
body
Serious injury or material damage
Before working on the machine,
remove jewellery and other
metal objects from your hands
and arms.
All work steps must be
performed only by trained
personnel.
WARNING
Improper operation of footswitch
Death, serious injury or material
damage
Do not hold the foot permanent-
ly on the footswitch.
Do not move the foot to the
footswitch as long as there are
body parts or foreign objects
between the tool holders.
Remove foot from footswitch
after pressing footswitch.
WARNING
Tool and workpiece not aligned
Serious injury or material damage
Align the upper and lower tools
parallel or at right angles to one
another.
Align tool and workpiece evenly
to one another.
Remove any unevenness from
the contact surfaces of the
upper and lower tool.
The hole in the workpiece for the
self-clinching fastener is to be made
by laser or punching. The exact
dimensions of the hole depend
on the self-clinching fastener and
are available in the HONSEL
self-clinching fasteners catalogue.

3 .1 POSITIONING OF THE MACHINE

DANGER
Voltage-regulated devices
Death or serious injury caused by
electrical shock
Switch off voltage supply if the
wires have damaged isolation.
Work on the electric system
must be performed only by
qualified electricians.
Keep moisture away from live
parts.
Keep system closed.
Do not bypass or disable fuses.
All electrical setup work and the
connection to the power supply
must be performed by a qualified
electrician. You can commission the
electrician yourself or commission
him via the HONSEL service.
Contact the HONSEL service for all
the necessary information.
Precondition:
Maximum ceiling load of the intended location
is not exceeded.
1. Transport the machine to the intended location,
see chapter 6.
2. Remove packing material.
3. If the machine has an automatic feeding
system, connect the machine to the
compressed air supply.
4. Add hydraulic oil to the machine if the hydraulic
oil tank is not filled upon delivery, see chapter
3.2.
5. A qualified electrician connects the machine to
the power supply.
6. Electrician performs all electrical
commissioning work.
The machine is ready for operation.
