Charging the battery (fig. A)
Warning! Do not use tool while it is connected to the USB
cable.
Pull the micro USB charging port cover (14) away from the
u
tool.
Insert the micro USB plug (12) into the charging port (10).
u
Plug the USB plug (13) into any USB port (such as on a
u
computer). The green charging LED (4) will continuously
blink while charging.
Ensure the green charging LED (4) is illuminated. If the
u
green charging LED is not illuminated, adjust tool handle
to ensure charging contacts are touching.
Charging is complete when the five green charging LEDs
u
(4) remains continuously ON. Battery can be left charging
or USB cable can be disconnnected.
Let the tool charge initially for at least 3 hours. After the
u
initial charge, your tool should be fully charged in 3 hours
from a fully discharged condition. Recharge discharged
batteries as soon as possible after use or battery life
may be greatly diminished. For longest battery life, do
not discharge batteries fully. It is recommended that the
batteries be recharged after each use.
Hot/Cold Delay
When the tool detects that the battery that is too hot or
too cold, it automatically starts a hot/cold delay, suspend-
ing charging until the battery has reached an appropriate
temperature. The tool then automatically switches to charging
mode. This feature ensures maximum battery life.
A cold battery may charge at a slower rate than a warm
u
battery.
The hot/cold delay will be indicated by the orange
u
charging LED (4) remaining OFF.
Once the battery has reached an appropriate temperature,
u
the green charging LED (4) will continuously illuminate,
indicating that the tool has resumed the charging
procedure.
Electronic Protection System
Li-Ion tools are designed with an Electronic Protection System
that will protect the battery against overloading, overheating
or deep discharge. The tool will automatically turn off and the
battery will need to be recharged.
Important Charging Notes
The tool may become warm to the touch while charging.
u
This is a normal condition, and does not indicate a
problem. To facilitate the cooling of the tool after use,
avoid placing the tool in a warm environment such as in a
metal shed or an uninsulated trailer.
If the tool does not charge properly, take the tool and
u
charger to your local service center.
(Original instructions)
You may charge a partially used battery whenever you
u
desire with no adverse effect on the tool.
Important Safety Instructions for All Integral
Battery Tools
@
Warning! Read all safety warnings, instructions,
and cautionary markings for the battery, USB
cable and product. Failure to follow the warnings
and instructions may result in electric shock, fire
and/or serious injury.
NEVER force a charger cord plug into the tool.
u
DO NOT modify a charger cord plug in any way to
u
fit into the tool as the battery may rupture causing
serious personal injury.
DO NOT charge or use the battery in explosive
u
atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Inserting or removing the USB
cable plug from the tool may ignite the dust or fumes.
DO NOT splash or immerse in water or other liquids.
u
DO NOT allow water or any liquid to enter tool.
u
DO NOT store or use the tool in locations where the
u
temperature may reach or exceed 104 °F (40 °C) (such
as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer). For
best life store tools in a cool, dry location.
Note: Do not store the tool with the switch locked on. Never
tape the switch in the ON position.
DO NOT incinerate the tool even if it is severely
u
damaged or is completely worn out. The battery can
explode in a fire. Toxic fumes and materials are created
when lithium-ion batteries are burned.
If battery contents come into contact with the skin,
u
immediately wash area with mild soap and water. If
battery liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the
open eye for 15 minutes or until irritation ceases.
If medical attention is needed, the battery electrolyte is
composed of a mixture of liquid organic carbonates and
lithium salts.
Contents of opened battery cells may cause
u
respiratory irritation. Provide fresh air. If symptoms
persist, seek medical attention.
Battery liquid may be flammable if exposed to spark
u
or flame.
Never attempt to open the tool for any reason. If the
u
tool case is cracked or damaged, do not charge. Do
not crush, drop or damage the tool.
Do not use a tool or USB cable that has received a sharp
blow, been dropped, run over or damaged in any way
(e.g., pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer, stepped on).
Damaged tools should be returned to the service center
for recycling.
