A person with appropriate training, schooling and experience enabling him or her to identify
risks and avert danger.

Duties of the owner

NOTE
The owner must comply with the local statutory regulations governing:
• personnel safety (employers' insurance association and accident prevention regulations,
workplace directives), e.g. operating instructions, including those in accordance with s. 20
Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV), personal protective equipment (PPE)),
health screening;
• safety of work materials and tools (safety equipment, standard operating procedures,
procedural risks and maintenance);
• product procurement (safety data sheets, list of hazardous substances);
• disposal of products (Waste Act);
• disposal of materials (decommissioning, Waste Act);
• cleaning (detergents and disposal);
• as well as with current environment protection regulations.
The owner is also required
• to provide personal protective equipment (PPE);
• to conduct a constant hazard assessment of the workplaces, including consideration for
hazardous substances;
• to incorporate the measures into operating instructions and to instruct personnel;
• to create safe access to operating sites (from a height of 1m above ground): where
necessary, to provide work scaffolding;
• to guarantee training for operating personnel;
• to ensure that standard operating procedures are compiled;
• to ensure that there is no other person located within the danger areas (crushing points)
during operation;
• to provide the prescribed number and size of safety equipment, such as suitable handheld
fire extinguishers, in easily accessible places;
• to provide suitable workplace lighting in accordance with ASR 7/3;
• to make regular checks to ensure that tripping hazards are marked.

Special safety instructions for maintenance and repair work

Within the EEA (European Economic Area), national transposition of the framework
directive (89/391/EEC) and corresponding individual directives, in particular the directive
(89/655/EEC) concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of
work equipment by workers at work, as amended, are to be observed and adhered to.
(e.g. for electrical connections) are complied with during installation and
commissioning if these procedures are conducted by the owner itself.
Always rinse the metering head to remove dangerous media and depressurise the
pressure line before repair and servicing work. Wear protective clothing (safety goggles,
safety gloves and apron).
Electrical repairs must always be carried out by electricians! When opening covers or
removing parts, other parts carrying an electrical current can be exposed. Connection
points may also be live.
Only original spare parts must be used for repairs.
