Maintenance
4.1

Maintenance intervals

Replace the O-rings on the front cover and the eye shield
levers every 6 years (see chapter 4.3.9 on page 24).
4.2

Cleaning and disinfecting

CAUTION
!
Do not use any solvents (e. g. acetone, alcohol) or
cleaning agents containing abrasive particles for
cleaning and disinfecting. Only use the prescribed
process and use the cleaning and disinfection agents
given. Other agents and methods, dosages and
contact times may damage the product.
The undiluted agents are damaging to health if they
come into direct contact with the eyes or skin. For this
reason, wear safety goggles and protective gloves
when working with these agents.
4.2.1
Manual cleaning and disinfecting
1. Remove attached components (e. g. neck protection,
lamp) from fire helmet and clean separately.
2. Clean helmet shell and visors with lukewarm soapy water.
3. Rinse helmet shell and visors with clear water and wipe dry.
4. Apply anti-fogging spray kp comfort to visors.
NOTICE

The visors can also be cleaned with alcohol-free glass
cleaner or kp comfort.
When the internal helmet components must be disinfected:
1. Prepare a disinfection bath consisting of water and

2. Place all parts to be disinfected into the disinfection bath
(duration: 15 minutes).
3. Rinse all parts thoroughly under running water.
4. Allow all parts to air-dry or dry in the drying cabinet
(temperature: max. 60 °C). Keep away from direct sunlight.

Mechanical cleaning and disinfecting
CAUTION
!
When cleaning and disinfecting in an industrial
washing machine, the fire helmet is subjected to high
mechanical stresses. It may become damaged if the
following information is not considered.
The mask/helmet combination is washable in an industrial
washing machine as follows:
1. Remove attached components, especially lamp and
communication module and clean separately.
2. Place fire helmet in a wash bag.
3. Load washing machine in such a way that an additional
helmet would fit into the washing machine.
4. Start the washing programme.
Approved detergent: Eltra
{
Dosing: 5 g Eltra/1 l fresh water
{
Water temperature: 62 °C ±2 °C
{
Drum speed: max. 20 min
{
5. Rinse four times.
6. Allow all parts to air-dry or dry in the drying cabinet
(temperature: max. 60 °C). Keep away from direct sunlight.
