Check the start circuit:
- The ignition switch must be in the "ON" or "START" position.
- Transmission must be in neutral position.
- The blade drive lever must be off - to start the engine with the trip starter.
- Check the engine "shut-off" circuit (off):
- Remove your hands from the operator presence control lever while the engine is
running and the engine should stop within 3 seconds.
- NOTE: If the device does not pass any of these tests – do not operate it. Contact an
authorized Villager service workshop. It is essential that the safety system of the
operator be connected and in the proper working condition - before the beginning
of the use for mowing.
5.1.6 Check whether there are loose elements
Service interval: Daily.
 Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop and remove the key.
 Inspect the device visually - to see if there are loose elements or if there is
another problem. Tighten the items or correct the problem before handling.
5.1.7 Check the air purifier
Service interval: 50 hours.
Inspect more often if the conditions are bad. Refer to the engine manual - for
additional information.
 Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop and remove the key:
 Loosen the securing screws and remove the air purifier compartment cover.
 Remove the paper element. Check the status of the paper element. Replace it if
it is dirty, distorted, or damaged.
 DO NOT wash or use compressed air - to clean the paper element or internal
element.

5.1.8 Change the engine oil

Service interval 100 hours.
NOTE: Replace the oil and filter after the first 5 hours of work.
 Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop and remove the key:
 Release the oil - while the engine is still hot.
 Replace the oil filter with each oil replacement. Clean around the oil filter and
unscrew the filter to remove it. Before installing a new filter, apply a thin layer
of oil to the surface of the rubber seal. Rotate the filter clockwise until the
rubber seal touches the filter adapter. Then tighten the filter to additional 2/3
to 3/4 of the circle.
 Clean around the oil drain plug and remove the plug. Fill to the indicated
capacity and return the plug. Use the oil recommended in the Engine
Instruction Manual. DO NOT overfill with oil.
