Villager
- Purchase and store gasoline only in certified canisters.
- Always place gasoline canisters on the ground away from your vehicle - during
pouring.
- Do not fill gasoline canisters inside the vehicle or in a truck or trailer, as the
interior mats or plastic mats in vehicles and trailers can isolate the canister
and slow down the loss of any static charge.
- When this is feasible, replace the equipment that runs on gasoline from the
truck or trailer and charge the equipment with their wheels on the ground.
- If this is not possible, then fill such equipment on a truck or trailer from
portable canisters, rather than gasoline nozzle.
- If a gasoline nozzle has to be used, then hold the nozzle in contact with the
fuel tank rim or the canister opening all the time until the filling is complete.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
- Gas vapors can accumulate inside the trailer and can be ignited by electric
sparks or hot engine/exhaust components.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN
- An explosion or fire may occur, which can result in damage to property,
personal injury and/or death.
HOW TO AVOID DANGER
- Ensure adequate ventilation of each closed trailer - to prevent accumulation
of gasoline vapors, especially at the floor level.
- Pour the fuel only outdoors, never indoors or in a closed trailer.
- Make sure that all fuel tanks and all gasoline storage tanks have the correct
plugs mounted to prevent leakage and penetration of vapors into the trailer.
- Do not put any equipment out of which gasoline leaks – in the trailer
1.4 HANDLING
Although risk control and accident prevention partially depend on the design and
configuration of the equipment, these factors also depend on the awareness,
attentiveness, care and training of the persons involved in handling, transport,
maintenance and storage of the equipment. It is crucial that all the safety
mechanisms of the operator be connected and in working order - before the
beginning of mowing.
