1.3 PREPARATION

1.3.1 Inspect the terrain to determine which accessories and equipment are
needed - to perform the work properly and safely. Use only the equipment and
accessories approved by Villager.
1.3.2 The use of personal protective equipment is recommended, such as (but not
limited to) - eyes, ears, feet and head protection equipment.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
- This unit produces sound levels that exceed 85 dBA at the ear of the operator
during work.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN
- Exposure to sound levels of 85 dBA or higher for a longer period of time - can
lead to hearing loss.
HOW TO AVOID DANGER
- Wear hearing protection - when working with this device.
1.3.3 Always wear closed shoes and long trousers while mowing. Do not work with
the equipment when you are barefoot - or when you wear open sandals.
1.3.4 Carefully inspect the area where the equipment will be used and remove all
stones, wires, bones and other foreign objects - which may damage the equipment
or cause personal injury to the operator or observer.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
- Exhaust engine gases contain carbon monoxide, which is a smell-less lethal
poison.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN
- Carbon monoxide can kill you.
HOW TO AVOID DANGER
- Do not run the engine indoors, or in small closed spaces - where hazardous
vapors of carbon monoxide can accumulate.
