If not already completed, remove the previously installed O2 sensor bung plug from the bung in the exhaust system, and install
the O2 sensor.
NOTE: Make sure to apply a high heat anti-seize compound to the threads of the O2 sensor as recommended in the O2 Sensor
installation section and install into the bung using a 7/8" oxygen sensor socket or 7/8" wrench. Avoid contacting tip of O2 Sensor
with any anti seize compound, damage may occur.
Connect the main harness lead labeled "O2 Sensor" to the O2 sensor connector. Secure the O2 sensor lead as to avoiding
contact with the exhaust pipes. Make sure to leave plenty of air space between the harness and the exhaust manifolds/headers.
Connect the main harness air temp connector to the MAT (manifold air temperature) sensor.
Use the provided fuel pump connector and terminals to terminate the wiring of your selected fuel pump. Connect the fuel pump
lead on the main harness to this connection.
NOTE: The Orange wire is positive while the Tan and White wire is the negative supply for the fuel pump.
WARNING: The maximum current for the fuel pump is 10 amps. If the fuel pump current will exceed 10 amps, a fuel pump relay
is necessary. During a key ON event power and ground is provided to the fuel pump for 8 seconds then will shut OFF. This allows
the Fuel Pump to pressurize the system. When the vehicle is starting and runs, the pump will turn back ON.
Installation of Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) Sensor
Chevrolet Performance Parts recommends that the MAT Sensor be installed in the base of the Air Cleaner assembly as shown in
the pictures below:
In the Air Cleaner base, that is a component included in the ZZ6 Air Cleaner Kit supplied with the ZZ6 "Turn Key" package, (1)
remove the formed round knockout panel, (2) insert the supplied rubber grommet and (3) install the MAT Sensor in the grommet.
Connect the wire lead, labelled "Air Temp", from the wiring harness to the MAT Sensor as shown above.
OPTIONAL FAN & TACHOMETER OUTPUT INSTALLATION
Three pigtail leads near the ECU connector on the main harness are provided to trigger electric cooling fan(s) and provide an
external tachometer signal. The Fan trigger outputs from the ECU are low current switched GROUNDS that require a 30 AMP
Automotive Relay (not included) for each output.
NOTE: Auxiliary Outputs are rated at 1.5 AMP max and must be configured to activate with a relay (not included). DO NOT
connect ECU fan outputs directly to the fans.
The diagrams provided below are to assist in the connection of the switched trigger outputs for electric fans and tachometer
using the provide pigtails. The ZZ6 EFI ECU provides low current switched ground outputs for electric fan triggers. These triggers
are set to 180 degrees F for FAN#1 relay output and 187 degrees F for FAN#2 relay output. The Fan trigger(s) must be used in
conjunction with a 30 AMP automotive relay (not included). Each accessory trigger will require its own 30 AMP automotive relay.
