OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING - Always follow the safety
regulations. The chain saw must
only be used for cutting wood. It is forbid-
den to cut other types of material. Vibra-
tions and kickback vary with different ma-
terials and the requirements of the safety
regulations would not be respected. Do
not use the chain saw as a lever for lifting,
moving or splitting objects. Do not lock it
over fixed stands. It is forbidden to hitch
tools or applications to the P.t.o. that are
not specified by the manufacturer.
When using the chain saw for the first time,
make several cuts in a small trunk in order to
become familiar with the saw in action.
Always use full throttle when cutting with the
saw, regardless of the size of the timber. Ne-
ver push down on the saw when cutting. The
weight of the saw alone enables it to cut pro-
perly with minimum effort.
WARNING - Never cut in high wind,
bad weather, when visibility is poor
or in very high or low temperatures.
Always check the tree for dead branches
which could fall during the felling opera-
tion.
TREE FELLING
Study the tree and surrounding area before
starting to cut. Clear the work area before be-
ginning to cut. Prepare the widest possible
path of retreat for when the tree falls (Fig.
43). Cut off any branches at the bottom of the

trunk up to a height of about 2 metres. Make
a 90 degree notch on the face of the tree, in
the direction it will fall. The depth of the notch
should never exceed 1/4 of the diameter of
the trunk (1 - Fig. 44). About 10 cm (4") hi-
gher up the trunk make a cut down towards
the first cut, in order to extract a wedge. This
is the mouth of the hinge, and is the direction
in which the tree falls (2 - Fig. 44).
Now, make your felling cut on the opposite si-
de of the trunk. Start the cut about 4-5 cm
(2") higher than the center of the notch (3 -
Fig. 44).
Always leave a hinge (A, Fig. 45 - 46) which
allows you to control the direction the tree fal-
ls in. Put a wedge into the felling cut, before
the tree starts to move, to prevent the chain
saw guide bar from getting stuck.
If the diameter of the trunk is greater than the
length of the guide bar, make the felling cut
as shown in the sequence of Fig. 46.

ATENCION - Seguir siempre las nor-
mas de seguridad. La motosierra se
debe utilizar sólo para cortar madera. Está
prohibido cortar otros tipo de materiales.
Las vibraciones y el contragolpe son dife-
rentes y los requisitos de seguridad no
serián respetados. No usar la motosierra
como palanca para levantar, mover o par-
tir objetos. Está prohibido aplicar a la to-
ma de fuerza de la motosierra utensilios o
accesorios que no sean los indicados por
el constructor.
Si se usa la motosierra por primera vez, efec-
tuar algunos cortes sobre un tronco estable
para familiarizarse con el producto en acción.
Durante el corte acelerar al máximo. No ha-
cer fuerza sobre la motosierra; su solo peso
permitirá cortar con un esfuerzo mínimo.
ATENCION - No corte cuando hace
mal tiempo, con escarsa visibilidad o
con temperaturas demasiado rígidas o
elevadas. Asegúrese de que no hay ramas
secas que pueden caer.
ABATIMIENTO
Estudiar bien el árbol y el terreno circunstan-
te antes de empezar a cortar. Liberar la zona
de trabajo. Prepararse una amplia posibilidad
de retroceso para el momento en que el árbol
iniciará la caida (Fig. 43). Quitar eventuales
ramas presentes en la parte inferior del tron-
co hasta una altura de 2 m. Efectuar un corte
perpendicular a la planta, correspondiente a

1/4 del diámetro del tronco, iniciándolo de la
parte donde se prevee la caida (1 - Fig. 44).
Aproximadamente 10 cm más arriba iniciar
un segundo corte que se una con el final del
primero. Se extraerá de este modo una cuña
y en esa dirección caerá la planta (2 - Fig.
44). Practicar ahora en la parte opuesta al
primer corte el verdadero corte de abatimien-
to. Deberá efectuarse 4-5 cm por encima del
primer corte (3 - Fig. 44).
Dejar siempre una bisagra (A, Fig. 45-46)
que permite el control de la dirección de cai-
da. Meter una cuña en el corte de abatimien-
to antes de que el árbol comience a moverse
para evitar que la barra de la motosierra se
bloquee.
Si el diámetro del tronco es superior a la lon-
gitud de la barra, realizar el corte de abati-
miento como se indica en la Fig. 46.
