All occupational safety regulations, installation conditions and declarations of performance (DIBt technical approval)
must be observed for assembly and installation!
m WARNING
Wear protective gloves!
– Risk of cuts and crushing when removing the fan from the packaging
– Carefully remove the fan from the packaging by the casing . Impacts must be avoided .
– Check the fan for transport damage . Damaged units must not be installed .
Install the undamaged unit according to the application.

Forced ventilation via centrifugal cooling air fan for F600 types

The motor cooling for the Helios F600 smoke exhaust fans takes place in both smoke extraction and ventilation mode
via separate centrifugal cooling air fans (types B KLG, accessories). These cooling air fans are monitored in ventilation
mode by flow monitors (type SWE, accessories).
– Ventilation mode
The cooling air fan must be activated simultaneously with the smoke exhaust fan in ventilation mode. If the airflow
monitor signals a fault, then it is no longer guaranteed that the smoke exhaust fan is supplied with sufficient cooling
air. In order to prevent damage to the smoke exhaust fan, it must be immediately deactivated and a fault signal must
be issued.
– Smoke extraction mode
The cooling air fan must be activated simultaneously with the smoke exhaust fan in smoke extraction mode. If the
airflow monitor or the smoke exhaust fan motor protection device signals a fault, smoke extraction operations must
not be interrupted. A fault signal must be issued. The smoke exhaust fan will run until electromechanical destruction.
3 .2
Installation of F600 smoke exhaust fan in fire area with centrifugal cooling air fan for motor cooling
– Installation condition ZB = Forced ventilation (see type plate)
In order to ensure the motor cooling for the F600 series, separate centrifugal cooling air fans B KLG 500 or B KLG 1000
are necessary accessories. The cooling air fan must be installed outside of the fire area (smoke section) in sufficiently
ventilated rooms or outside with weather protection. In this respect, the air temperature of 40 °C must not be exceeded
(Fig.1). For information on the minimum cooling air flow volumes for the respective smoke types, refer to Installation
and Operating Instructions no. 85573. Temperature of cooling air outlet from motor casing up to 250 °C.
m DANGER
– The cooling air outlet temperature can be up to 250 °C!
– The exhaust air from the motor casing must be transported outside!
– The surrounding area/utility room must be sufficiently ventilated!
– The discharge direction must not be in the direction of flammable components .
– The discharge-side surrounding area must not be accessible for persons!
Even when operating the F600 smoke exhaust fan for ventilation purposes, motor cooling through a centrifugal cooling
air fan is mandatory, because the drive motor is not cooled in its casing by the air flow volume of the smoke exhaust
fan. Otherwise, it could lead to a drive motor failure due to overheating.
