Centrifugal cooling air fans – B KLG 500/1000
3 .5

Commissioning

m DANGER
– Before commissioning or activating the cooling air fan, check that there are no flammable and
combustible materials in the immediate surroundings of the cooling air fan .
– Check the fan airways for foreign bodies and remove these if necessary
– Do not stand in the danger zone of the fan
– Check that the data on the type plate corresponds to the connection data.
– Before connecting the unit, make sure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the unit voltage.
– Apply the nominal voltage
3 .6

Speed control

m WARNING
Any form of speed control is strictly prohibited
3 .7

Motor protection

m WARNING
The centrifugal cooling air fan B KLG 1000 does not have automatic overheating protection in ex-works condition .
The unit can become hot and burn!
With regard to this version, it is recommended to also connect a suitable motor-protective circuit-breaker (to be brid-
ged in case of fire, for the max. runtime of F600 smoke exhaust fans).

Servicing and maintenance

– Before any maintenance or inspection work or before opening the terminal compartment, the unit must be
fully isolated from the power supply and secured against unintended restart!
– Only open the unit five minutes after disconnecting the voltage at all poles .
– Excessive deposits of dirt, dust, grease and other materials on the impeller, motor and especially between the casing
and impeller must be avoided and prevented by periodical cleaning.
– Maintenance and servicing work may only be carried out by authorised specialists.
4 .1

Cleaning

– The unit must be fully isolated from the mains power supply before all cleaning work!
Cleaning the live unit with water can lead to electric shock .
– Regular inspection with periodic cleaning, if required, is necessary to prevent imbalance due to contamination.
– Clean the fan flow area!
– Do not use aggressive agents that could damage the paint!
– High-pressure cleaners or jet water are not permitted!
4 .2
Information – Fault causes
– Abnormal noises may be caused by defective bearings.
– Vibrations and oscillation can be the result of an unbalanced, possibly contaminated impeller or the installation
situation.
– Heavily reduced performance can occur if the fan works above the transition point; i.e. outside the permissible range
(associated with higher noise).
Fault / error
Motor does not turn
Motor overheating
Impeller running
roughly
Possible cause
Mechanical blockage
Faulty mains voltage
Faulty connection
Impermissible operating point
Thermal contact has triggered
Ambient temperature is too high
Insufficient cooling
Imbalance of rotating parts
7
Possible remedy
Deactivate, disconnect from power supply and re-
move mechanical blockage.
Check mains voltage, restore power supply.
Disconnect from power supply, correct connection,
see wiring diagram.
Check operating point
Allow motor to cool down, find and remedy the fault
cause, release the restart lock if necessary.
Reduce ambient temperature if possible.
Improve cooling
Clean the unit, replace unit if imbalance is still pre-
sent after cleaning.
Please make sure that no balancing clamps are re-
moved during cleaning.
