If there is a buildup of dirt between the two carbon leaves you should
remove the seat post from the bike frame and separate the leaves (by
undoing the lock screw at the bottom of the post) and clean between the
carbon leaves to insure the carbon is not being damaged.
• For your own safety, replace the seat post if it has suffered a hard impact, for
example, after an accident or a fall.
• If your seat post creaks or makes cracking or squeaking noises or if external
damage such as deep scratches, notches, cracks, dents, or discoloration, etc.,
can be seen, then you should not use it any longer. Contact your Ergon dealer
and have it checked carefully and replace the parts if necessary.

Attaching the Saddle

To fit the saddle, unfasten the clamping screws removing them completely from
the thread on the external clamp (Fig. 1). Remove both external clamps. Fit
the saddle to the inner clamps (Fig. 2). Fit the external clamps and slot the
clamping screws back through.

Head saddle outer clamps.

Fig. 2: Position saddle with rail at the
top of the post (stay within the limit
marks on the saddle rails).
Tighten with 1–2 turns (Fig. 3). The clamps must fit the profile of the saddle rails
exactly. If this is not the case, for example with oval rails (carbon rails), never force
it. For oval carbon rails (7x9 mm) the separately available Ergon Flip Head Adapter
for Carbon Saddle Rails must be used. Tighten the clamp using torque of between
4 and 5 Nm. Never exceed the maximum torque of 5 Nm (Fig. 4) or the saddle
manufactures recommendations. Pay particular attention to the information
about the compatibility of the Flip Head Saddle Clamp with different rails on
page 57.

clamps and loosely tighten the
