6.5 Failsafe

In the event of a disruption in or interference with the transmitter signal, or in case of undervoltage, this function puts the
accelerator/brake servo in a preselected position (it making sense for this to be the neutral position or, if there is such, in the
braked position). This is to prevent swerving of the model and thus avoiding damage.
Setting the fail-safe:
>
First switch the transmitter on.
>
Then switch the receiver on. The LED will light up.
>
Put the accelerator/brake lever of the transmitter in the neutral position
(idle), or, if there is such, in the braked position.
>
Press the SET key on the receiver. Use the pin on the binding plug to do so.
The LED will begin to flash.
When the flashing stops and the LED again lights up continuously (after
approx. 3 seconds), the setting has been completed.
Check the failsafe function. Prop up the model such that the wheels can turn freely and switch off the transmit-
ter. The accelerator/brake servo should then move back into the neutral position (or braked position), and the
model should coast to a stop or be braked.

6.6 Programming of the speed controller

The speed controller is already adjusted to the remote control unit included and the
model. When using a new speed controller or a new transmitter and after reversing
the direction of the rotation of the motor by means of the reverse switch on the
transmitter, however, the control range of the accelerator/brake lever has to be
reset.
Adjusting the controller
>
Switch the speed controller off and the transmitter on.
>
Put channel 2 (accelerator/brake) into the REV position.
>
Set the DUAL RATE and EPA parameters on the transmitter to 100%, and switch
off the ABS function.
Press and hold down the SET key (adjacent to the ON/OFF switch, arrow) and switch
on the speed controller. As soon as the red LED on the speed controller begins to
flash, immediately release the SET key.
If you hold down the SET key for too long after the red LED starts to flash, the green LED will flash, and the
controller will have gone into the programming mode. In such case, switch the controller back off, and start
over with the adjustment (steps 1-3).
1
Then put the accelerator/brake lever in the neutral position, and press the SET
key. The green LED will blink once, and a signal sound will be heard (one time).
2
Put the accelerator/brake lever in the full speed position and press the SET key.
The green LED will flash twice, and the signal sound will also be heard twice.
Put the accelerator/brake lever in the braked position and press the SET key
3
again.
4
The green LED will flash three times, and the signal sound will also be heard
three times.
The adjustment of the control range is now completed, and the motor can be star-
ted after 3 more seconds.
For more far-reaching programming, follow the separate Operating Instructions for the speed controller.
The speed controller has more adjustments for advanced drivers, such as:
>
3 operating modes "forward with brake", "forward/reverse with brake" and "forward/reverse, without brake"
>
8-stage "drag brake" setting
>
6-stage selection of the interrupting voltage
>
9-stage adjustment of the start-up behaviour ("punch") from "soft" to "very aggressive"
>
4-stage setting of the maximum braking strength
>
4 reverse speeds
>
4-stage setting of the braking strength when the braking takes affect
>
3-stage neutral operation
>
8-stage motor timing (only with sensorless motors)
