LiPo/LiIon/LiFe batteries
>
Please observe the manufacturer's information on the charging current and time without fail.
>
The discharging current may not fall short of the value printed on the battery.
>
Lithium batteries should be discharged only partially for storage and use.
>
Use a suitable cable cross-section for the charger cable and high-quality (gold) contacts for the plug-in connections. The use
of charger cables that are too thing or contact problems that occur may lead to dangerous operating conditions.
>
LiPo batteries should not be more than lukewarm during the charging (max. charging current 1C). A stronger heating up
indicated a defective batteries or a defective cell in the battery pack.
>
Store the flight battery in a cool, well ventilated space away from heat, flammable materials or explosives when not in
use.
>
Protect the battery against overheating (>60 °C). Do not install or store the battery next to heat sources.
>
Batteries that are still hot (e.g. due to high discharge currents in the model) must be cooled down to room temperature
prior to charging.
>
Do not solder directly next to the battery.
>
Lithium batteries (LiPo, LiIon, LiFe) with more than one cell must be additionally charged with a balancer for safety reasons.
The balancer ensures that the individual cells of the battery are evenly charged.
>
Always connect only one battery pack to the charging adapter/balancer. There is a danger of fire and explosion if you char-
ge several battery packs at once!
>
Do not use the battery after charging until it has cooled off. Wait at least 10 minutes until the drive and the electronics
have cooled off as well before you drive the model again. Otherwise, the drive and the electronics may be damaged from
overheating.
>
Never charge the delivered flight battery directly after use. Always allow the battery to cool off (at least 10-15 minutes).
>
Allow the charger to cool off in between charging.
>
Never charge the battery when it is installed as sufficient ventilation is not ensured thus.
>
Lithium batteries may not be deeply discharged as this will permanently damage the cell.
>
Charge the lithium batteries about once every 3 months to prevent deep discharge from self-discharge.
>
The exterior shell of the LiPo batteries is made up only of film and is very sensitive. Make sure you avoid damaging the
battery when you install or remove it.
>
Only install intact and undamaged batteries. The battery may not be used/charged with visible damage to the batteries (e.g.
after a collision) or if the exterior shell is swollen or inflated. There is a danger of fire and explosion!
>
Do not leave the battery attached to the model after use (e.g. for transportation or storage). The battery pack may other-
wise be damaged by deep discharge.
Charging
>
Please follow the separate operating instructions of the battery charger used (not included in delivery) and the specifica-
tions of the battery manufacturer.
>
Only charge rechargeable batteries which are intended for this purpose, conventional batteries must not be recharged.
There is a danger of explosion!
>
Charge only batteries of the same type and capacity. Observe correct polarity in all electrical connections and when connec-
ting the rechargeable batteries to a charger.
>
Recharge the batteries only under supervision, on a flame-resistant surface and keep adequate distance from combustible
surfaces or objects.
>
Check the temperature of the battery occasionally during charging.
NiMH and NiCd batteries can heat up considerably especially at high charge currents (> 1C). The battery may be damaged
on excessive heating (>50°C). In such a case, reduce the charge current.
>
Already charged or fully discharged batteries should not be connected and charged.
>
Never charge/discharge damaged, expired or deformed rechargeable batteries. There is a danger of fire and explosion!
Battery charger
>
Repair and maintenance work may only be carried out by specialists/specialist workshops.
>
Do not place operate the device unattended.
>
Make sure there is sufficient space between the components to prevent them heating up one another.
>
Never cover the charging device and rechargeable battery to prevent heat from building up as a result of insufficient air
circulation.
