7.3 Trouble shooting

Troubleshooting should only be carried out by a specialist or by service staff from an authorised WESSAMAT
specialist dealer.
Fault
Machine produces an ice plate
Trough only tilts approximately
one third or not at all, and ice
cubes are not discharged
Trough tilts fully (contact with
limit switch is made) but
immediately returns to original
position
Storage container is overfilled
with ice cubes
Trough tilts fully, ice cubes are
discharged, but trough no longer
returns into original position
Trough tilts fully, but no ice
cubes are discharged, trough no
longer returns to original
position, ice cubes stick to
'evaporator fingers'
Ice cube maker not working
despite production switched on
Cause
1. Ice thickness motor faulty,
gearing no longer rotating
2. Defective ice thickness limit
switch (limit contacts are stuck or
oxidised)
3. Tilting motor faulty (trough does
no longer tilt)
4. Water level too high (water in the
trough touches the horizontal
evaporator tubes)
1. The direction of rotation of the
tilting motor changes under load
2. Tilting motor is faulty
Hot gas phase is too short
Storage container thermostat does
not switch off
1. Defrosting thermostat does not
transfer voltage to tilting motor
2. Tilting motor faulty
Mechanical or electrical fault at hot
gas valve
1. Machine receives no voltage
from power supply
2. Storage container is full (storage
container thermostat has switched
off)
3. Storage container thermostat
switches off before storage
container is full.
4. Ambient temperature too low
5. Production switch of the ice cube
maker is faulty
6. Production switch in wrong
position ("Service" or "Produktion
aus/off").

Trouble shooting measures
1. Replace ice thickness motor
2. Replace ice thickness limit switch
3. Replace tilting motor
4. Water level sensor soiled - clean or
readjust probe
1. Replace capacitor
2. Replace tilting motor
Check defrosting thermostat (switch
point at +17°C). Readjust the
defrosting thermostat accordingly or
replace it.
Readjust storage container thermostat,
replace if necessary
1. Readjust defrosting thermostat (set
to +17°C) or replace
2. Replace tilting motor
Replace hot gas valve
1. Check socket
2. The ice cube maker will
automatically continue producing ice
once a sufficient quantity of ice has
been removed from the storage
container.
3. Readjust storage container
thermostat, or replace if necessary
4.Increase ambient temperature, or
relocated device if necessary
5. Replace production switch
6. Set production switch to position
"Produktion ein/on".
