7. Care, maintenance and trouble shooting

7.1 Cleaning

In order to ensure faultless and hygienic operation of the machine, it should be cleaned and checked regularly
depending on local conditions.
NOTE: For effective cleaning and disinfecting, and for quick and lasting removal of deposits (lime, rust,
iron, manganese) we recommend using the ready-to-use special cleaner from WESSAMAT. It can be
ordered from specialised dealers or directly from WESSAMAT.
CAUTION: Be careful that no contact of cleaner or water with electrical components occurs during
cleaning.
Please follow the specified cleaning sequence!

7.1.1 Cleaning the trough and the storage container

1. Switch off the machine (push production switch to the
right) and cut off the power.
2. Remove any ice remaining in the storage container. Ice
for consumption must not come into contact with
the detergent.
3. Remove the metal plate insert for draining the
condensation water from the storage container.
4. Loosen knurled nut on vertical inside panel (see Fig.
7.1.1.a) and remove panel from the storage bin.
5. Loosen knurled nuts on horizontal inside panel and
remove panel from the storage bin.
6. Clean the water level sensor. Clean the three vertical
sensors from below using a standard abrasive cloth,
thus removing any lime deposits.
7. Adequately
wet
WESSAMAT special cleaner and wipe the vertically
positioned trough and ice-making compartment (see Fig. 7.1.1.b). Repeat this procedure several times.
Keep wetting the sponge or cloth with WESSAMAT special cleaner as required. Allow a few minutes for the
special cleaner to act.
8. Thoroughly spray the storage container and the metal
plate insert with WESSAMAT special cleaner and allow
a few minutes for the cleaner to act.
9. Immerse the sponge or cloth in soap water and wipe the
trough, ice-making compartment, storage container and
the metal plate insert in order to neutralise the special
cleaner.
10. Clean the trough, ice-making compartment, storage
container and the metal plate insert with clear water.
Use a clean sponge or cloth. In case of persistent soiling
and deposits, this procedure (7.-10.) has to be repeated
several times.
11. Insert horizontal inside panel into storage bin and tighten
knurled nuts.
12. Hook in the vertical inside panel into the horizontal one
and tighten them with the knurled nut.
13. Place the metal plate insert into the storage container.
14. Switch on power again and re-start the machine (push
production switch to the left).
CAUTION: Almost all cleaners contain acids which can cause corrosion. Therefore, all stainless steel
parts that have been treated with cleaner must be rinsed thoroughly.
