EXPANSION TANK
The expansion tank absorbs volumes accumulations of water once it is heated.
The closed expansion tank is a vessel with a membrane inside that can absorb up to a certain increase in volume of water.
The installer is responsible for properly sizing the closed expansion tank based on the water content.
The replace unit can be operated with a closed tank ONLY if one of the coils is connected to a heat discharge valve as shown in
the following diagrams.
The open expansion tank positioned above absorbs the variation in water volume and provides the hydraulic system with the pres-
sure necessary to prevent air from entering.
We recommend that it be placed at least 3 metres above the highest element of the circuit.
A lower position can cause frequent "back ows" in the expansion tank with risks for the functioning and life of the replace unit,
so it is important that the installer carefully assess this height.
