Elos Drill Extender
1 Intended use
The intended use of the Elos Drill Extender is to extend the distance
between a dental drill or screwdriver and the dental hand piece or Elos
Torque Wrench during surgery and prosthetic procedures in the oral cavity.
2 Product Description
The Elos Drill Extender is for extending tools with ISO 1797 connections.
The device is made of stainless steel. The Elos Drill Extender design, finish
and quality makes the tool well suited for extending a drill or dental tool and
to placement and adjustment of implants, abutments and prosthetic screws.
The Elos Drill Extender is easy to prepare for cleaning, disinfection and
sterilization.
3 Use
The Elos Drill Extender is delivered non-sterile. Prior to use the device must
be cleaned with water and brush followed by sterilization according to
section 5 and 6. Use the Elos Drill Extender as described below:
1. Figure 1: After cleaning attach the Elos Drill Extender (A) to the Elos
Driver ISO connection (B) or into the dental hand piece ISO
connection (C). Push the Elos Drill Extender into the ISO connection
until firmly seated.
2. Figure 2: Attach the desired dental tool or drill (D) into the Elos Drill
Extender (A), and make sure that the tool is firmly seated in the Elos
Drill Extenders ISO connection.
4 Warnings and precautions
Potential adverse occurrences may include but are not limited to the
following list. Proper placement and use of this instrument may help to
mitigate these risks.

If overloaded
If overloaded, dropped or in other way mishandled, the device must no
longer be used since correct functionality can no longer be guaranteed.

Damaged device
If the Elos Drill Extender is damaged it should be disposed, as described in
section 10.

Do not use hydrogen peroxide
This device must not be cleaned using hydrogen peroxide.

Ensure correct assembly
Before use, make sure that all parts are correctly assembled.

Must be stored unattached
The Elos Drill Extender must be stored unattached to other instruments.

Max torque 100Ncm
Never apply torque > 100Ncm to the Elos Drill Extender, as this may
damage the ISO connection. However never exceed the screw/implant
manufacturer torque recommendations

Max speed 3000 rev/min
Never use drilling speed > 3000 rev/min, as this can damage the Elos Drill
Extender.

Cleaning
The Elos Drill Extender must always be cleaned using brush and water.

Only for use by professionals
The device must only be used by professionals.
5 Cleaning and disinfection
The following cleaning and disinfection method is recommended:
1. Remove the tool from the Elos Drill Extender by gently pulling the two
parts from each other.
2. Remove the Elos Drill Extender from Elos Torque Wrench or drilling
device by gently pulling the two parts from each other.
3. The Elos Drill Extender is now ready to be cleaned with water and
brush and sterilized according to section 6.
6 Sterilization
The Elos Drill Extender is delivered non-sterile. Steam sterilize with a
pressure of 2 atm. for 15 min. at 121°C or with a pressure of 3 atm. for 3
min. at 134°C, according to EN ISO 17665-1:2006 is recommended.
