Keep children away from the pressure cooker when it is in use.
The steam is very hot when released from the operating valve.
Beware of the jet of steam.
Your pressure cooker cooks under pressure. Scalding injuries can
result from improper use. Make sure that the pressure cooker is
closed properly before using it. (See "Closing" paragraph).
Make sure that the valve is always 'whispering' during cooking. If
not enough steam is escaping, equalise the pressure and check
that there is enough liquid, and that the steam release valve is
unobstructed. Following these checks, if steam is still not escaping,
increase the heat slightly.
Do not cook food that could block the safety devices' vents:
- cranberries, blueberries
- pearl barley, spelt, millet
- porridge oats
- split peas
For cooking large pieces of meat and foods with a superficial skin
(whole sausages, tongue, poultry, etc.): we recommend that you
prick them before cooking with a knife or fork. This is because boiling
BEFORE
liquid can get trapped inside them during the cooking process,
AND
producing splatters.
DURING
Never make milk-based recipes (such as rice pudding, semolina
COOKING
pudding...) in the pressure cooker using animal milk such as cow,
goat, sheep milk, etc.
Do not use sea salt in your pressure cooker - instead, add table salt
when the cooking has finished. This will prevent the development
of "pitting" that could damage the bottom of your pressure cooker.
Never use your pressure cooker to fry food in oil under pressure.
Do not leave your pressure cooker unattended while heating oil or
fat. Continuing to heat an oil that produces smoke, can damage the
product and may raise its temperature enough for flames to appear.
Do not use your pressure cooker for any other purpose than that for
which it is intended.
Do not put your pressure cooker in a hot oven.
Never put a sheet of unsecured aluminium foil over a container in
your pressure cooker. Always secure with string.
Never use cling film in your pressure cooker.
Alcohol vapours are flammable. Bring to the boil for around 2
minutes before putting the lid on the appliance. Keep an eye on
your appliance when cooking recipes that include alcohol.
Only use compatible heat sources, as indicated in the operating
instructions.
- noodles, macaroni, spaghetti
- rhubarb
- blackcurrants, redcurrants,
white currants
