8 Care and maintenance

Care and maintenance include works which ensure trouble-free operation of the Prestomat compact.
The unit must be regularly checked for mechanical damage. In this way accidents and unit failures can be
prevented.
Contaminations on all movable parts must be removed immediately. Only in this way smooth running and
perfect function are ensured.
The unit features an internal power supply via a storage battery so that data that are stored in the
computer control will not be lost in case of a power failure. During operation the storage main supply.
The storage battery is maintenance-free.
Hazardous voltages are fed inside the unit. Therefore maintenance work and repairs must only be
carried out by service technicians authorized by DeguDent.
Manipulations of the unit reduce the operational safety and include the risk of damage to persons
and materials.

8.1 Control of the casting chamber rotation and the vacuum

In order to obtain perfect, reproduceable casting results, a regular control of the inverting movement of
the casting chamber and the vacuum level is recommended. For this purpose the Prestomat compact
features simulation programs under the program numbers 0 – 2. In the simulation program the thermo-
couple is not heated up.
Proceed as follows:
While pressing the "E" key, switch on the unit. By pressing the "Schmelzen (melting)" resp. "Gießen" keys
a casting process is simulated. Check the proper function of the programs.
8.2 Cleaning of the furnace chamber
The cleaning insert included in the scope of delivery is suitable for cleaning the furnace chamber. Cleaning
should only be performed when the furnace chamber is cold.
Remove the eccentric ring from the furnace chamber. Instead of the ring place the cleaning insert with
the v-shaped opening facing upward into the casting chamber. Close the lid of the casting chamber and
manually turn the casting chamber into the casting position. In this way the dirt is collected by the clean-
ing insert. Then turn the casting chamber back to the starting position, open it and remove the cleaning
insert. Place the eccentric ring back into the casting chamber.
In order to avoid burns, please remember that the cleaning insert heats up quickly inside the
casting chamber and must therefore not be touched !
In order to prevent contamination within the furnace chamber, the lid of the casting chamber should
always be closed when the unit is switched off.
