Do not put any paraffi n-containing logs in your stove. When the door is closed, the high heat
will melt the paraffi n from the logs too quickly. The polluted fl ue gasses which consequently
develop will deposit on and burn in the glass of your stove and cannot be removed later.
Do not use any wood that is painted, impregnated, glued together or processed in any other
way. The fl ue gases are very harmful to the environment and may aff ect your stove. It is also
prohibited to burn plastics and other waste matter due to poisonous smoke development.
The stove gets very hot when lit and used, and requires at least two hours to cool. Therefore
do not touch it without adequate protection while the stove is lit or for two hours thereafter.
Always operate the stove with an oven glove, or you risk severe burns.

Igniting the stove

Use the separately supplied handle to open the doors while the stove is lit. There is a notch between the side
frame / moulding for attaching the handle.
Read the section on 'Lighting for the fi rst time' , on page 16, when lighting the fi re for the fi rst time.
Before igniting the fi re, use a piece of kitchen roll to remove any build-up from the glass. Open the combustion-air
inlet. Before igniting the stove, open the slide fully. Then open the door and stack a couple of logs in the hearth
with some smaller pieces of wood and fi relighters on top (top-down burning method, see page 55). Light the
fi relighters and leave the door ajar for a few (5-10) minutes for a primary air supply, and to ensure the fl ue is
drawing properly.
Once the fl ames appear strong, set the air slide to its medium position for the highest effi ciency. The stove will
then burn cleaner and you won't have to fi ll it so often.
Once the larger logs have created a decent bed of red-hot ash, you may add fresh wood (try to lay the wood in
the fi re as loosely as possible, so that the fl ames have plenty of room to develop). To refi ll the fi re, open the door
using the separate handle. Wait a few moments before opening the door fully. This reduces the risk of fl ue gases
entering the room.

How the air slide works

The air slide is infi nitely variable and roughly gives the following options:
1. fully slid to the right means secondary and tertiary air inlets are open
2. in the middle position, the secondary and tertiary air inlets are half open
and the stove now has the highest effi ciency and the airwash system
works best
3. fully slid to the left, everything is closed and the fi re will gradually go out
