1.) Explanation of Markings
2.) General information
SKYLOTEC equipment and components to protect against falls from
heights match or exceed applicable European, American or other
international standards. Please read these instructions carefully
before using the product. The activities for which this equipment is
used are, by their very nature, dangerous. This equipment should
therefore only be used by someone who is competent and who
has been specially trained in how to use it. The user accepts all
responsibility for the fact that he has been fully instructed in the
correct use of this equipment, has read these instructions, will use
the equipment only in accordance with its intended purpose and
will take all required safety precautions. A risk assessment must
always be carried out before every use, and a rescue plan for work
at heights must be submitted. The manufacturer or dealer cannot
be held liable for any damage, injury or fatalities that occur following
the incorrect use of this product. Always check the compatibility of all
of the components of a safety system with each other, and ensure the
safe functioning of the system. If you are unsure about how to use the
product, contact a suitably trainer person or contact the manufacturer.
When a complete system is supplied, individual components of the
complete system must not be replaced. The devices must not be
opened. Only SKYLOTEC and its service partners, as well as people
trained specially by SKYLOTEC (level 2), may open the device and
replace the system's components.
Retractable fall arresters
Retractable fall arresters (HSG) are part of a fall arrest system
including an anchor point and a harness complying with EN 361
(see Fig. 2.1) and are used exclusively to protect persons who are
exposed to the danger of a fall during their work (e.g. on ladders,
roofs, scaffolding, etc.). During the ascent or descent, the user can
move around freely. The spring ensures that the rope/webbing is fed
independently into the device. In the event of a fall or a backwards
movement, the device locks. Fall arrester devices limit the energy
produced during a fall to such an extent that the body can withstand
this energy. A risk assessment must be carried out before every
use / any work involving the device.
A device damaged and/or stressed as a result of a fall (display on
the device shows red or fall indicator in the carabiner has tripped),
or if there are any doubts regarding the safety of the device, then
