Carrying out the test

NOTICE
i
i
To avoid overloading the Porta Control, filling and
measuring should be carried out alternately.
1. Open the hose clip to the compressed air supply and briefly
operate the compressed air pistol, close the hose clip.
2. Open the hose clip to the test volume of the Porta Control,
read off the pressure on the pressure gauge, close the
hose clip.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 alternately until the Porta Control
shows 17.5 mbar (179 mm WC).
4. Make sure the hose clips are closed.
5. Set the settling time to 10 minutes and start the stopwatch.
During this time, keep the pressure at approx. 17 mbar
(173 mm WC) to allow for pressure and temperature
compensation. Top up the air, if necessary.
6. Disconnect the compressed air pistol and open the hose
clip. Reduce the pressure to 16.5 mbar (168 mm WC) and
close the hose clip.
7. Set the test time to 6 minutes and start the stopwatch.
8. Read off the pressure on the Porta Control at the end of the
test time.
There are no leaks in the chemical protective suit if the
pressure drops by 3 mbar (30 mm WC) or less. Then
disassemble the test set-up and check the suit valves.
If the pressure drops by more than 3 mbar (30 mm WC):
1. coat critical spots (e.g., seams, fastener system, glove and
boot joints) with soap suds.
2. Mark leaking spots.
3. Rinse off the soap suds.
4. Vent and repair the chemical protective suit.
5. Repeat the leak test.
Alternatively, the chemical protective suit can be sent to Dräger
for repair.

The
test
is
described
®
Porta Control
. You can carry out the tests with other
test devices, but the indicated values must be
observed.
Carry out the test according to EN 464 at room
temperature (20 °C ±5 °C).
Test equipment and accessories:
Porta Control
Compressed air pistol
Compressed air supply
1. Moisten the valve disc and insert it.
2. Assemble the test set-up. place the test cap onto the valve
to be tested.
3. Open the hose clip and create a negative pressure of
10 mbar (102 mm WC) with the pumping ball, then reclose
the hose clip. Do not overload the pressure gauge.
4. Set the test time to 1 minute and start the stopwatch.
5. Read off the pressure on the Porta Control at the end of the
test time.
The suit valve is in order if the pressure changes by less than
1 mbar (10 mm WC). In this case:
1. Check the next suit valve.
2. Disassemble the test set-up.
3. Remove the test plug from the suit valve.
4. Fit the protective cap onto the suit valve.
If the pressure changes by more than 1 mbar (10 mm WC):
1. Remove the valve disc and visually examine it.
The valve disc and valve seat must be clean and
undamaged.
2. Replace the valve disc, if necessary (see chap. 5.7.3 on
page 34).
3. Repeat the test.
