Personal injury hazard. Never remove covers from the instrument. This is a laser-
based instrument and the user risks injury if exposed to the laser.
N O T I C E
The laser diode is extremely sensitive to static charges and out of tolerance
voltage variations. Never make or remove any connections with the line power
applied to the counter. The counter provides power ±15 VDC to the sensor.

Mechanical installation

N O T I C E
Never remove the microcell fittings. These fittings use a special Kal-Rez
and are torqued to a factory specification.
The sensor has a flow direction indicator. Make sure that the flow
direction on the sensor is observed during installation
on page 6).
1. Remove the two shipping plugs from the microcell.
Note: To prevent contamination install the shipping caps when the sensor is
not connected to the system.
2. Connect the sensor adapter fitting from the sample source to the
sensor inlet port
(Figure 1
on page 5).
3. Connect the sensor outlet port
the flow meter tubing inlet
(Figure 3
4. Make sure to flush the cell and sample lines completely with clean,
particle-free water immediately after making the cell connections.
Make sure that there are no leaks in the sampling system to obtain
accurate samples.
5. Make sure that all fittings are properly connected and leak-free. Do
not over-tighten any fittings. Finger-tighten, then an additional ¼-turn.

Electrical installation

Connect power to the sensor
N O T I C E
Damage to the sensor can occur if connected or disconnected while powered.
Always remove power from the instrument before making electrical connections.
1. Set the counter power to off.
2. Connect the sensor cable connector to the sensor connector on the
particle counter. The sensor is ready to use.
3. Set the counter power to on.
(Figure 3
