If the particles in the

are irregularly shaped,
they may clog the
microcell and other
particles may build up
behind them. The flow
through the microcell
can be disrupted or
totally blocked. If
particles clog the center
of the microcell, then the
laser light may not reach
the photo-diode. This
can cause a high
baseline.
Clean a blocked microcell
Follow the procedure to clean a blocked microcell.
1. Remove the sensor.
2. Install the sensor in the opposite direction of the flow path
3. Flush the microcell with clean, particle-free water that is miscible with
the sample solution in the microcell. If the sampler stalls while
flushing the microcell, proceed to Step 4.
4. Use a clean dry filtered air jet to blow air in the opposite direction of
the sample flow through the microcell
remove loose particles that may be stuck in the microcell. Refer to
Clean the sensor and the microcell
5. Flush the microcell with clean, particle-free water that is miscible with
the sample solution in the microcell.
Solution
• Do not recircle samples.
• Make sure that the particles in
a sample are smaller than the
cell width (500 μm x
1000 μm).
• Refer to
Clean the sensor and
the microcell
on page 7.
• Use only approved cleaning
equipment to clean the sensor
flow channel, refer to
Replacement parts and
accessories
on page 12.

(Figure

on page 7.
6. Install the sensor in the correct flow path.
If the problem still occurs, contact Technical Support.
