Microcell: Clean the microcell:
• When count numbers are high
• When the concentration in clear liquid is high
• When the baseline result is high during the sampling
Note: High baseline can be caused by high particle concentration or microcell
contamination.
Do the steps in this procedure to clean the microcell. Refer to
through
Figure 7
for more information.
1. Flush the sensor with clean, particle-free water. Refer to
applications
if the sensor was used for sampling oil.
2. Turn the counter off and disconnect the sensor from the sampler.
3. Disconnect the sensor fittings from the input and output ports.
4. Drain and dry the sensor with clean pressurized air.
5. Pull two unwaxed Super Floss
(Figure
4, items 1–2).
Note: Never pull the waxed Super Floss end through the microcell. The wax
could leave a deposit on the microcell windows which is difficult to remove.
6. Pull a third unwaxed Super Floss end through the microcell. Align all
three Super Floss ends, but make sure that no waxed part will enter
the microcell
(Figure
4, items 3–4).
7. Mix clean water and the Micro
8. Pull the Super Floss through the microcell until the thick floss part
touches the microcell end
(Figure
9. Fill the threaded inlet approximately halfway with the mixed Micro
solution. Pull the thick floss part slightly away from the microcell so
that the solution can enter the microcell
10. Clean the microcell windows until no particles show on the floss
(Figure
7).
11. Pull the floss straight up and down without too much tension
(Figure
7).
Note: Make sure that the flow channel sides do not contain trapped particles.
Clean this microcell area with less force.
12. When the cleaning is complete pull the Super Floss waxed ends
away from the microcell. Discard the floss.

13. Flush the microcell with the Micro solution and water.
Note: If the sensor is not used immediately, flush the sensor with clean,
particle-free water and dry the sensor with clean pressurized air.
14. Install the sensor to the sampler (Refer to
on page 6). Examine the system for leaks. If required, prepare the
sensor for oil applications (refer to
on page 9).
If the cleaning procedure was completed three times without positive
results, contact technical support.
