mount the tail rotor drive gear and tail rotor blade assembly as shown.
N.B. Press the tail rotor blade assembly into position between the positioning lugs molded into
the drive gear.
Retain the tail output shaft assembly with silicone tube retainers, one
retainer slipped over each end of the shaft.
WARNING! The tail blades have very sharp edges as a
result of the molding process. Carefully sand any sharp
edges to blunt them and render them safe.
Check that the complete tail shaft assembly does
not float from side to side. Adjust the silicone
retainers until this is achieved.
The tail rotor assembly should now freely rotate on the bearings. Hold the housing so that the tail rotor is horizontal
and observe whether or not one blade or the other always rotates to the bottom. If one blade is out of balance you
must stick a small piece of Tesa film (supplied) to the lighter blade to achieve a prefect balance. Imbalance of the tail rotor will
cause severe vibration.
Fit the tail motor into the slots in the tail housing using two 1.5x3 mm bolts and
washers. Adjust the backlash between the tail gear and motor pinion by slipping a
piece of paper between the two. Push the motor up against the tail gear and tighten
the motor bolts.
N.B. Not too tightly or you may strip the threads. Remove the paper strip. Check that there is a small amount of backlash between
the gears and no binding of the gears is detectable during rotation. N.B. Proper backlash adjustment is essential for achieving
good flight times and long motor life. Now glue the tailskid into place.
