The rotorhead
Ball links are the most important connection elements in a
helicopter. They should be free of any play, but smooth in
movement with no binding.
N.B. Due to manufacturing limitations, this cannot be perfectly
preset at the factory. Therefore, the links are a little too tight
and require adjustment by the builder.
The swashplate comes pre-assembled. Press a ball-link onto
it's corresponding ball on the swashplate. At this point, check
for any binding in the link. Swing the link in all directions. If you
notice that the link cannot be moved without binding, carefully
squeeze the ball-link on the ball with needle-nose pliers. Start
with just a little pressure, and recheck the link. Proceed this
way until the link can slide freely on the ball. Do this to all of the
ball links.
WARNING: Squeeze carefully to avoid damaging the ball
joints!

You can see in the illustration below which linkage goes to
which ball. Notice that the flat side of the ball-link goes toward
the inside of the ball and the rounded surface faces outboard.
Note also that the upper swashplate arms are of 2 different
lengths: short and long. Ensure that the ball links are correctly
fitted to the appropriate arms.

Slide the swashplate onto the main rotor shaft and press
the center hub (part no. 67369) onto the shaft. Line up
the center hub hole with the hole in the main shaft. The
steel anti-rotation link pin must be pushed through the
center hub and the corresponding hole in the main shaft. Then
press the two 2x6 mm
plastic bushings
at the top of the center hub.

Snap the rotor head plate (pt no 67370) into place on the two
center hub ball bearings. You will notice some free play as you
rock the plate. This is intentional and is a feature of the rotor
head design.Place the small hooked part of the anti-rotation
link over one side of the anti rotation pin, then carefully bend
the other side under and onto the opposite pin. Bend the anti
rotation link down and snap the ball link onto one of the short
arms attached to the inner ring of the swashplate. Note that the
flat side of the ball link lies to the inside of the ball.
