3.3 Functional description

The "Unibox E BV vario" is a wall box unit
working without auxiliary energy and serves the
individual room temperature control in surface
heating systems. The "Unibox E BV vario" is
used in low temperature heating systems with
a max. flow temperature of 55 °C.
The "Unibox E BV vario" is installed in the
supply pipe of the individual rooms.
You have to option to operate the "Unibox E BV
vario" with a thermostat with remote control or
a room thermostat with actuator.
The thermostat with remote control or the room
thermostat which have to be ordered separate-
ly detect the room temperature which is trans-
ferred to the control piston or the actuator. The
control piston or the actuator opens or closes
the thermostatically controlled volume flow.
You can set the desired room temperature by
turning the handwheel of the thermostat with
remote control or by setting the room thermo-
stat.
The heating water flow is divided into two
partial volume flows, a thermostatically con-
trolled volume flow and a bypass volume flow.
A basic heat load can be set with the help of
the bypass volume flow. This will prevent a
complete cooling down of the heating surface
if the thermostatically controlled partial volume
flow is closed due to the influence of other heat
sources, such as sunlight or electrical appli-
ances. The thermostatically controlled partial
