Technical description
volume flow thus corresponds to the maximum
possible heat proportion supplied by other heat
sources. A permanent basic heat load which
does not only support the self regulating effect
but also minimises the inertia of the surface
heating when the room temperature changes,
is guaranteed. Hydronic balancing, i.e. setting
of the total heating water volume flow which is
required to cover the heat load of the room, is
carried out at the regulating insert.

3.4 Operating elements

3.4.1 Setting of the regulating insert

You regulate the volume flow with the help of
the regulating insert.
The volume flow is determined with
the help of a surface heating design
according to DIN 1264.
1. Close the valve disc by turning it clockwise.
Use a 4 mm Allen key.
2. Set the volume flow by turning anticlock-
wise. You can obtain the number of turns
from the charts in the appendix.

3.4.2 Setting of the bypass

You set the bypass at the handwheel.
Illust. 4: Setting of the bypass
26
The horizontal lines on the sleeve
represent full values (corresponds
to 1 turn), the figures on the
handwheel correspond to 1/10th
of a turn.
Proposed settings for the bypass (e.g. solar
radiation during winter):
• Rooms with high solar radiation 25% (cor-
responds to bypass setting 1.4)
• Rooms with medium solar radiation 50%
(corresponds to bypass setting 1.9)
• Rooms with low solar radiation 75% (corre-
sponds to bypass setting 2.3)
If required, adapt the settings to the conditions
of the individual rooms.
Note the determined values and the
setting on the adhesive label inside
the "Unibox E BV vario".
