If SIMATIC S7 from SIEMENS is used for project design, the names in the
GSD file must not be longer than 8 characters.
GSD files with long file names cannot be entered into the PLC hardware
catalog!
Configuringa PROFIBUS-DP-System
1 Device name for hardware catalog If different GSD
files are required for devices of the same type, this
standard name has to be altered in a way that allows
unambiguous assignment of the PROFIBUS master in
the hardware configuration.
